Puerto Rico Act 1993-2007
The Puerto Rico Act is not a new issue in the terms of politics, the last time The Puerto Rico Act was brought up to Congress and shut down was in 1993. Now in the year 2008 this Act comes up again, Why? i dont know, but here is a brief history of Puerto Rico, since 1898 Puerto Rico has been a Common Wealth since the Spanish "American" War. Puerto Rico is considered an "American" U.S. Territory but at the same time it is a self governing country with its own governor its own house and its own senate. the weird thing is that things such as social security and others are controlled by the U.S. as of now, bush is considered chief of state of Puerto Rico but Puerto Rico is not a State of the U.S. now personally i think its kinda lame that a president of the U.S. is chief of another state that is not considered part of the country's states. now the question that citizens and politicians are asking, Is Legislation 2007 ready to make Puerto Rico the 51st state? what do you think.?
